As Spring creeps upon us, a bitter sweetness can be tasted in the air.
Yes, the Speech Contest is approaching. The Speech Contest will happen on April 27th. During the Speech Contest, contestants in both elementary school and high school will give their speeches and compete to win first place. However, there is a lot of preparations to do for the actual contest.
Before the big finals, students must make the speech. The speech must either be a persuasive or a personal narrative speech. The goal of a persuasive speech is to persuade the audience to follow a certain type of lifestyle or believe in something. A personal narrative is when the speaker talks about their personal experiences, and leaves a message for the audience to remember and learn from.
After the speeches are complete to their final drafts, students must then give an in-class speech. It must be memorized, practiced, and ready to go. The top contestants will proceed to the finals. At the finals, the elementary school students will compete with each other and the high school students will compete with each other too. Then the teachers will judge and decide who the winner is. Then what are some ways to reach for the finals? Here are some tips:
Choose a topic you are familiar with, so that it is easier to memorize.
Write as if comfortably as possible. For example, write as if you are talking formally to a friend.
Be creative and add humor to your language to make the speech memorable.
Be confident. The best way to ruin an amazing speech is to lose confidence while giving it.
The Speech contest is nearing, so prepare yourselves and use these skills. Mastering all these skills will definitely get you to the finals, and to victory.
