On April 2nd, Mrs. Kim gave birth to a baby girl named Juanne. Although Juanne was born 9 days earlier than the due date, both of the mother and the baby are healthy. Because of the early surprise, Mrs. Kim left the school earlier than she expected to; Mrs. Kim’s last day of school is March 31st. Currently, Mrs. Kim is having a maternity leave.
Some of the students have talked to Mrs. Kim through email and they sent regards to each other. Mrs. Kim said that she is very excited to have a baby girl since she had a boy last time. She is looking forward to spending time with her daughter as she grows up, because mother and daughter tend to get along very well. She described giving a birth to be “an amazing experience that any woman would cherish.” She also explained how the amazing experience let her appreciate her mother even more. In addition, Mrs. Kim mentioned how it is CRAZY to raise two babies that are only a year apart. Mrs. Kim said, “It feels like I am changing diapers and doing laundry twenty-four seven!” However, she explained that she forgets all of the hard work that she deals with when she sees the smile of her children. Furthermore, Mrs. Kim mentioned that being a mom is similar to being a teacher, since they are both spiritually fulfilling and rewarding, despite the fact that they can be both physically and mentally exhausting.
Before Mrs. Kim left for the maternity leave, she spent a week for the transition for Mr. Chua; Mr. Chua is taking Mrs. Kim’s role as an Honor’s Math teacher and also as a grade 12 homeroom teacher. Unfortunately, Mrs. Kim would not be able to come back to school next year, because her daughter is too young to go to a daycare center; Mrs. Kim is planning to have a year off in order to focus on parenting. However, she is hoping to go back to work in the 2018-2019 school year. She also mentioned how she would like to attend our school events in the near future and say goodbye to each one of her students in person.
